North Kerala v/s South Kerala

It is better explore either South or North rather than travelling all across the state; there are similar tourist attractions on both side so that you stick to one side and explore all. South Kerala

Ernakulam: The business hub of the state is not just known for its infrastructure, shopping facilities and metro life but also for its illustrious history and culture. With its magnificent cultural edifices, cafes, restaurants and boho-culture, fortkochi is the hub of tourist activities in the district.

Idukki: Every nook and corner of the state is copious with lush greenery and scenic charm. The main tourist attractions of the district are Periyar National park, Eravikulam National park, Anamudi peak, Meesapulimala peak, Thommankuthu National park and Munnar. Munnar is a scintillating hill station nestled in the Western Ghats that offers chilling weathers and the beauty of nature’s splendor.

Kottayam: Kottayam is the land of cash crops, plantations and many religious shrines. The plantation of rubber, pineapple, tapioca, coconut, pepper and nutmeg alone is a treat to the eyes. The places of interest in Kottayam are Kumarakom bird sanctuary, Elaveezhapponchira, Nadukani, Kottathavalam and an array of temples and churches.

Alappuzha: Famously known as the Venice of the east combines the beauty of backwaters and scenic landscape. The place is one of the most visited tourist spots and a favorite destination for honeymooners. The must do things in the place are house boat riding, water sports and to experience the calm country life.

Pathanamthitta: The most visited place in Pathanamthitta is the Hindu shrine of Sabarimala, it is also visited to experience the secluded and serene village of Gavi. Other places of interest are Manalar waterfalls, Green valley and Konni Eco-tourism center.

Kollam: Kollam is known for its beaches and reminiscence of the colonial era. The district is blessed with many beautiful backwaters and estuaries.

Thiruvananthapuram: The capital of the state also as many tourist attractions to offer to a traveler. Padmanabhaswamy temple, Kowdiar palace, Napier museum, Attukal temple, Shanmugham beach, Kanakkunnu Palace and Varkala beach are some of it.

 

North Kerala

 Thrissur: The cultural capital of Kerala is rightly called so. The place has many tourist attractions of historic and cultural influence. The places of interest in Thrissur are Mural art museum, Peruvanam palace, Vidyaratam ayurvedic museum and Puravasthu museum.

 Palakkad: The district of Palakkad is characterized by lush greenery, verdant rice plantations and regal mountains. The places of interest in Palakkad are Palakkad fort, Dhoni waterfalls, Malampuzha dam, Fantasy Park, Anju vilak, Yakshi statue and rock garden.

Kozhikode: Kozhikode is most known for its scrumptious Malabar cuisine and super clean and safe beaches. The places of interest in Kozhikode are Kallayi River, Mananchira, Kadalundi bird sanctuary, Kozhikode beach, Kappad beach, Railway garden, Mangrove forests, Pazhassi Raja museum and Vasco da Gama memorial.

Malappuram:  Malappuram is very similar to Kozhikode in landscape, cuisineand culture. Nilambur teak museum, Kottakunnu, Kumaragiri nature camp, Mini ooty, Nedumkayam, Ponnanni Juma masjid, Kodikuthi mala and Padinharekara beach

Wayanad: The vast stretches of mist clad mountains, green meadows, mesmerizing flora and fauna and the blue water lakes makes Wayanad a must visit place. The main tourist attractions of the place are Kalpetta, Chembra peak, Edakkal caves, Wayanad wildlife sanctuary, Pookode Lake, Thusharagiri falls, Meenmutty, Lakkidi view point, Banasura dam and many more.

Kannur: Kannur can be called the land of beaches; there is a beach in every few kilometers in place and the district has the longest coastline in Kerala. Places of interest in Kannur are Muzhappilangad beach, Kannur beach, Arrakal museum, St Angelo fort, Kizhunna beach, Ezhara beach, Payyambalam beach, Mappila beach and many more.

Kazaragod: Kazaragod has many forts and other historical places in the backdrop of crystal clear beaches; where you can enjoy the nature’s beauty as well us culture of a bygone past. The places to see here are Bekal fort, Ananthapura lake temple, Ranipuram mountain hiking, Malikdeenar mosque, Malom-the coorg of Kerala, Kottancheri hills, Chandragiri fort, Bela church, Maipady palace, Mogral river, Elephant fall, Hosdurg fort and Kumble fort.
